We can only hope!
A tentative deal still needs to be ratified by both sides.
No way those fools are going to lose another season of money!

The big talk of this hockey season will be
RICK NASH and I will be seeing him in my arena! Look out playoffs!

Thread to soon be moved to the BS section, ask if you don't know where that is.

Here's a funny story about the hockey season...On April 1st a major local radio station here in Philly played an April fools joke on everyone. They had their sports guy come on all serious and say a deal had been struck and the first game would be in 2 days at the Spectrum. The Spectrum immediately got swamped with thousands and thousands of hockey fans calling in for tickets. The DJs had to make a formal apology on the air to the Spectrum and all those rabid Flyers fans. LOL
Go Fly Boys!!!!

Hockey?...hockey? oh yea: guys with sticks sliding around and punching each other, right? I kinda remember that. huh. They went away? ;)

No, thats curling, and there called brooms.

Once the televison contracts get worked out hockey fans can look forward to ESPN once again showing hockey instead of girl's softball, pin pong and lacrosse. The only negative is hockey get's a smaller rating than the aforementioned sports here in the states (but it still beats reruns of log rolling).

That's why we brought a satellite dish from Canada down to NC with us... Nothing like still being able to watch Hockey Night in Canada. ;)

Lets hope its back, I mean those guys must be running out of money by now. Pretty hard to budget on a few million.
But 1st we get football, and thats more important.
Go Packers and Bruins

Nicker, you spelt it wrong: the proper spelling is " Go P a t r i o t s and Bruins.
No need to thank me.

...and now you can add Foote - very nice - you should have a pretty competitive team this year!

Hockey is fun in person but its still "soccer on ice" when I watch on TV. At the same time, being a huge sports fan I have to admit hockey fans are as rabid as they come so I'm happy for all of you. Now if they only could get Pele to lace them up again I might watch. ;)

In soccer the shots on goal come about every 15 minutes. I'd rather learn about the DAIT system than watch soccer even though it is our other major league ??? sport here

Only 2 Major leagues in columbus? What are you talking about? The Buckeye starters make more $ than some of the NHL guys let alone the quasi-Major League Soccer players.

Go Jackets! I've got season tickets and can't wait!

Whoa whoa whoa!
We're now using thousandth posts as barter? Giving them away in exchange for mere tickets to some odd sporting event?
Oh, I need to sit down. Wait, I AM sitting down. I need coffee. Wait, I've HAD coffee. I need a nap. Wait, I just got up. I need a break. Wait, I AM broken...

I envy you. We lost our Jets a few years back and it still stings.

That was truly sad. Perhaps with a salary cap, Winnipeg will be able to survive again. Someone would have to move the team there, but I could see better attendance there than some of the other markets that currently have teams.
On the opposite side of the coin, a team like my local Leafs has to really change their approach. They always sell out and always will. They could spend more than others to remain competitive, it should be interesting to see how they do, I think it will be a bad year for Toronto this year. Too many has-beens have been signed.

As a die-hard Habs fan I'm can't say that I'm sorry! ;D
There sure has been a lot of harsh words for the GM lately. It will be interesting to see how Lindros and Allison fair over the season with their high potential for injury. No doubt that when they're on, they're great.
I hope Lindros does well, but I doubt he'll be able to sustain any level of worth. But then again, he did come at a bargin in the overall scheme of things. No harm, no foul.
Go Habs Go!!!

I think so. It will interesting to see what kind of coverage they give. Personally, I can only really stomach the CBC broadcasts. Those other guys seem kinda goofy - especially Pierre Maguire's Monster Performer on TSN. That guy just annoys me to no end.
