Title: pump failure
Post by: Jostudly on August 12, 2017, 06:27:55 pm
I have a 2015 Hydropool 5000 serenity hot tub that is 2 years old. The jets work a few times and then stop once with a FLO error and the next time I use it the jets work twice and then stop working with no error. I had to reset the tub each time and about 30 mins later the jets would start again. I called the place I bought is from and they told me they would need to replace the pump and that it is overheating and this was common for that year. Weird thing is I used the tub a couple more times and they jets worked fine. I am not sure if the pump was bad or not to be intermittent like this but the tech put in a new pump. Is this a common thing to break only after 2 years of use? I maintain the water weekly and only use it 2-3 times a week at best. I got one more year under warranty hopefully nothing else breaks. Had the spa pack replaced as well during the first year of ownership.

That sounds like quite a bit of repairing for the first 2 years, but sometimes things like this happen so I wouldn't say it's indicative of the brand without a larger sample size. Overheating pumps can act just as you described and I doubt the retailer would have taken the time to install a new pump under warranty if it wasn't the issue as they saw it. However, if it was a common problem for that year I would probably want to know whether my pump was replaced with the same model with potentially the same problems, the same model but they worked out the kinks, or a different model that doesn't have those issues.
