Title: Dallas Caldera Geneva and Marquis Resort Price
Post by: Johnnywr10 on January 08, 2018, 06:56:57 pm
Closing on a home soon in Dallas area, and heading to dealers starting tomorrow- strongly considering the Caldera Geneva and Marquis Resort based off reports etc, but will be open-minded.  Question- Does anybody know the prices on the Geneva and Resort that the dealers are willing to offer on both? Appears only one Caldera dealer in area, but a few Marquis. I'm semi-dreading shopping for a hot tub if it is anything like car buying. I just want a fair, honest deal where the dealer makes a reasonable profit - and me avoid getting ripped off. Thanks in advance.

I replied to you on the other forum regarding the Geneva ;D.

As for the Resort, price will fluctuate depending on what steps you get and whether you get the Constellation lights or not.  With the lights, Resort bench and step, I would expect around $11,500 - $12,000.

Absorbing as much info from people in the-know like you.  That other forum appears to have much less traffic, compared to this one.  Again, thanks for providing some very good starting point information.  I would like to hear especially from people in my Dallas/TX and surrounding market-  because as you have mentioned in the other post- it varies in price depending on the region. Thanks again.

I sell both brands and actually own the Resort. With Step, cover lifter and constellation lights I’m right at $12k-12.5k. With Pro Lift 3 and Avante Step on the Geneva I’m in the 13k range. Two great tubs but very different tubs. The better comp to the Geneva would be the reward but then that compares more direct to the Caldera Tahitian. Geneva is a bit bigger. I find the loung in the Geneva more comfortable but the reason I own the resort is the Adirondack seat in it. Both have good power. How many people will be using the tub at once?  The Geneva will fit 5-6 comfortably where the resort is a 4 person tub

Thanks for the reply hottub guy. Where abouts can I find your store and sit down with you? I just got out of one store - Texas Hot Tub Company- and I wasn’t impressed whatsoever.  This guy was blank on virtually everything, couldn’t elaborate on anything whatsoever, and didn’t make me want to buy a hottub whatsoever- especially from him. You can shoot me an email hottub Guy if you aren’t comfortable sharing your location on the boards.

Tman, the guy there had zero knowledge whatsoever. He looked at me with blank stares at least half the time I was there , and as a nurse, I almost felt like he was having a stroke and that I should call 911. After walking in, I had to force feed him Information. He asked zero questions. Said I picked a bad time, but that he’d show me the 4 he had. Walks to first one, and says “Here’s this one” and stares at me blank. Says nothing about it, brand, model, nothing. Doesn’t describe it whatsoever or speak of jets or seating- nothing. I ask what model it was- and he gives me a blank stare again for no less than 20 seconds. I walk the perimeter of the tub and see the sign with $15+sticker price and tell him it’s the Tehitian (sp?) or whatever it is from Caldera and he says “okay”.  I ask about it’s features and jets and he says “yes, there are jets.”  After another 30 seconds of a blank stare, he says “I can show you one bigger one.” He walks me over to it and sits there looking at it and doesn’t say a word. I wish I had a hidden cam to share this experience because it was THE most unbelievable business inquiry I’ve ever had. So no- definitely NOT buying there.  I could only imagine calling with a service need. A competitor in town just absolutely gave me incredible education and information on their spas for 45 minutes and their pricing methods straight up-   Something the other guys wouldn’t do unless “Are you buying today?”

That's either a new salesperson who doesn't know the product yet (not that its ok to be that clueless or for a dealer to let someone on the floor who isn't prepared) or its a dealer that will soon be out of business. I'm not sticking up for anyone that clueless certainly but that salesperson is only part of the journey, the dealership itself and how well it cares for customers after the sale is also key. You could call to ask when the manager is going to be around to see if the dealership overall has a clue or if it just left too bad of a taste then move on to the next store though I might call to let them know why you aren't coming back (but that's just the New Yorker in me  :o).

Not that it’s any excuse but I’m guessing most of the Caldera stores sales team is in California for there annual meeting. I’m here with a few people from my company

He didn’t even offer me a brochure or ask me for any information on my way out. I had to ask him for a card, and he gave me one- his first name is Ed. Competitor across town have me a detailed overview of all their tubs that fit my parameters and gave me catalogs on the way out and took the time to dogear mark the pages of the tubs I viewed. So hottub Guy, you might grab the mic at yalls morning meeting tomorrow and ask for the manager of Texas Hot Tub Company to please stand up and inform him that Ed is truly a train wreck of a rep- and that’s putting it very kindly- and has torpedoed at least one Caldera likely sale.

50% of Hot tub ownership is the brand the other 50 is the dealer. Sounds like you found one worth visiting anyway. What brand or brands did he carry?

2nd dealer carried Marquis and Bullfrog. He reported he also carried Caldera there for years. He didn’t trash Caldera though, as many would expect. He described how Caldera and Marquis and Hot Springs have been staples in the industry and their solid reputations, and also described that bullfrog launched around 1998 I think he said, and detailed their ascension into a power player in the industry. Very informative.

I know those guys. Met them on a Marquis trip a few years back. Solid company for sure. Are you in the Austin or San Antonio area?  They carry another brand as well but stay away from that one

It’s in Flower Mound, close to Dallas. Southern Leisure Spas. Super impressed with the manager there and attention to detail. I’m sure I’ll be wet testing before too much longer. Thanks for your feedback hottubguy

I have done business with coleman backyards.  Very good company and great customer service.  This was about 8 yrs ago.  hopefully they still have the same reputation.  They have 3 stores in the metroplex.  closest to you is Grapevine over near bass pro shops.  They sell the hot spring spas.  Not sure if they have any other brands.
