Title: Our very first spa!
Post by: donl1150 on June 30, 2013, 07:22:49 pm
As promised, below I have posted some pictures of the screen porch / hot tub project just recently finished.   This is our very first hot tub and after much research and comparison, we settled on the Hot Spring Vanguard.

Since we live in cold and snowy central Minnesota, we did not want to just put it on the deck and have it totally exposed the elements.  So, we decided to build a screen porch around it and have it slightly recessed so no step would be necessary.  Elevations of the current deck were perfect for it.  We had considered the Covanna but that was a bit too pricey and not as 'bug proof' as the screen porch will be.

We had two small dead trees within the footprint and my wife said 'build around them, they will make a great towel holder'.  I sprayed them with polyurethane several times and they fit nicely in the floor plan.  Unique add on!

For the sound system, I made a weather proof box to house one of our wireless Sonos  speakers...works great!

In the back corner I mounted a Triton propane fired instant on water heater to supply shower water for the rain forest head.  I am still working on the LED lighting throughout but was interrupted this past week by some terrible storms that totaled out our pontoon boat and lift.

Oh, we'll ...... I jumped in the tub and took a soak.  That helped!

Don,
Fantastic pics of your new hot tub! I have a question for you. What made you decide to buy the Hot Springs spa over Jacuzzi? I made the same choice as well. Just wandering what was your deciding factor?
Thanks Much
Jeff

Jeff,

Basically came down to 1) closer local service (40 miles vs 100 miles) and 2) 15% lower price.  Very pleased with it so far!
