I read somewhere that bromine eats a way at the heater coil eventually,,and what someone did to keep the brominator from staying next to the filter was use a rope and die it in the opposite corner.
I was bored today... so I gave it a shot. Little nylon string, tied to my tub, with a loop around the brominator, now it stays in roughly the center of the tub, instead of hugging the filter all the time.
Is this a good idea, bad idea? Anyone else do this?

It is a fine idea. Replace the rope as it degrades and you are good to go.
