Title: Great Bumper Stickers
Post by: stuart on February 06, 2005, 05:00:16 pm
I saw a great bumper sticker and thought this would be a great source to what others have seen. Here are three of the better ones I seen lately....

"Cover me while I change lanes" (On the interstate in CA)

"Visualize World Peace....Through Global intimidation of superior firepower!"

"Tailgate at your own risk, Driver has PMS and a Gun"

Any other good ones…..?

I had this one made:

"Honk if you're blind'

But I never had the nerve to put it on my car. I was afraid I would offend some blind people.

Title: Stupid things seen on cars
Post by: wmccall on February 14, 2005, 10:16:31 am
Along the same lines, I have a personalized license plate, it is HOTWNGS and it has a tie to my website Columbuswings.com

However I am amazed at the stupid things people put on personalized plates. It seems like in order to own a Chrysler PT Cruiser you are required to get a plate with some form  of  MYPTCRSR on it.

Then there are the other people who think there car is so hot they have have to tell people what it is.  I saw a Classic yesterday.  I was following a Saab 93 down the road. I knew it was a Saab 93 because it was on the trunk in big chrome letters installed at the factory.  I'll bet you can guess what the plate was.  It was  SAAB 93. Why would someone spend $80 a year to tell the world the obvious?

And if you are a 20 something young, good looking male, do not under any circumstances allow your girl friend to get personalized plates.  As soon as they are installed she will forget how to drive.  Then she will make you run all kinds of errands (usually to pick up tampons) in her car.   Everytime I see a car with plates such as  SEXYSUE, HOTBABE, or CUTECHIC its always some 20 something guy driving it!

My boss has an old BMW 325IX and had the liscense plate IH8SNO.  He didn't renew it one year, and when he went to get it the next year, the DMV said he couldn't have a plate that has the word Hate in it.  Bummer for his bimmer.

Saw another plate yesterday.  It was  MYJAG.  I felt like stopping him and saying NO KIDDING as if I wouldn't know that, I guess it could have been a company car.  I guess if you own a VW Beetle you are also required to have some sort of personalized plate.

I had one that said "Spas." I was trying so hard to get "Spas etc" but at the time we only had six letters available and no spaces could be used. Everybody kept asking me why I was announcing that I was a spaz.....

A friend who does repair for us had one that said "Spa Man." Actually, it said spaman, and people thought he was telling them that he was spammin' ...

...and now for something completely different

We have lived in our new home for almost two years.

Our neighbour directly across the street from us has a very interesting liscense plate.

NOTT C

At the time, I did not know what to make of this plate (and my new neighbour). But now knowing them personally it is completely NOT what you think.

He is a retired Brit who is fanatical about soccer - he strongly supports the Nottingham Soccer Club. Apperently this plate has been the centre of contraversy for a very long time. While pouring me a pint of some British ale in his exact replica of his favorite British pub in his basement, he showed me all the press clippings he's aquired over the years.

I respect his decision to retain and fight for his plate. It is not hate related at all. However, I would probably personally have it changed to avoid any confusion.

Wow, at least its a converation starter.  But I'd be worried that if the car was left unattended it might offend some person who thinks the obvious and vandalism might occur.  I wonder if he had to get that passed the censors?  Her in Ohio, I'm sure they would have rejected it, but you can appeal, for cases like that.

From what I understand, he's had the same plate for quite some time - they tried to force him to change it but he fought it and won!

I don't think you could get away with it nowadays - way too problematic -would more than likely be censored.

Tres bizarre!

Back to bumper stickers, next week is our annual golf/Red's game outing.  I'm not sure if my Sante Fe will hold the 4 of us and 4 golf bags so if anyone else drives, I bought those joke magnetic bumper "sticker" and will put it on the back of the car belong to whomever does drive. It will be fun to watch the look on the peoples face as they pass us.  I'm leaning towards using the I LOVE GAY PORN one.

I see they added a new one

I would use this one, but we may have open beer in the car.

Saw an interesting bumper sticker today, I think what made it interesting was the other one on the same bumper.

The first was a fairly normal, "My child is an honor student at Huy Elementary School"  The other bumper sticker, "I pee in pools"  To be not only odd, but an odd complement to the first one.   I hope the kid is indeed  smarter than the parent.
