Title: 1999 Hot Springs Grandee - First Setup No Jets Or Heat Solid Red Light
Post by: bobbo4775 on September 28, 2014, 08:42:20 pm
Good evening everyone.

I just inherited a "Free" hot tub from a family member that moved here from St. Louis. It is a 1999 Hot Springs Grandee (it is in great shape visibly). -They installed their newer one that they brought with the move and I got the one that was at the house already. Before I got it everything worked (so they say). I paid to have it moved and I had it all wired.
---
Now to the problem. When I filled it and turned on the breakers, the Red power light comes on and is Solid, no green light (I think this comes on when at temp though). I go to turn the jets on and all I hear is a click, and then nothing! The heater doesn't heat and the jets don't come on. The circulation pump runs and is pushing water through.
---
So I began my diagnosis
-I took my multimeter and checked to see if power was going to the pumps and there wasn't. There was power going to the heater though.
-I hard wired the pumps to power to test and they both run fine. There are two lit LED lights on the board inside.
-I removed the IQ 2000 board and tested the relays, they both work and there is no resistance when they are activated. The board itself looks fine, no blown resistors or capacitors.

I am stumped, there is water, the relays work but there is no power to the pumps when I turn them on.

Please and thank you!
My wife is already beginning to make me feel like an idiot for taking a "free" hot tub that has now cost us $500 and isn't working.

Well it turns out that the 50 amp breaker in the house was only putting out 120v. After replacing and setting up properly, it output 240v and all problems were solved.
