Title: 2008 Grandee-New owner
Post by: Chiadrum on April 10, 2013, 01:03:17 pm
Hi all-we have decided to go ahead and purchase a used Grandee that actually was delivered and went into service in 09'.Serial # indicates assembled in 08'.
I have 2 questions:
1-what is the story with the Ozonator on these units?Do they need to be flat out replaced every couple of years or do they simply need to be serviced?I don't think this tub has a lot of hours on it but still 4 years of service time. The units are close to 300 and the owner has confirmed that he has done nothing to the original.

2-Do the 5 filters really need to be replaced every 3 years? The owner confirmed that the filters are also original, and have been cleaned regularly.

Water in the tub looked great but of course they put fresh water in before showing the tub for sale and probably haven't been in the tub.

Thanks,Vic

The ozone units can run much longer than that - simply sniff to see if yours is still doing the job. If not, replace it.

To keep it running forever, simply make sure that it has air moving through it. That means air bubbles from the floor, AND the smell of ozone when you first open the cover. Air alone can indicate a broken line - you will get the air bubbles (sometimes more than normal) but no ozone. Without airflow through the unit, it can fry itself quickly.

Start with new filters - ew!! Who wants to share sloughed skin cells with somebody you found on Craigslist or whatever. The regular filters can go 2-4 years, easily. The Tri-X filters can go twice that.
