Title: New Bullfrog order, how long???
Post by: BW13 on June 14, 2020, 08:00:30 pm
Hi I ordered a new A7L 2 weeks ago.  They are saying 10 weeks as of now, so 12 weeks total.  Anyone getting there's quicker?

I ordered my A8D three weeks ago. I was told the first week in August for delivery.  I called the salesman today and he's still projecting August.  I guess they  have been trying to ramp up production and hiring more people because they had a back order of 3000 to 5000 spas. He told me at one point they were cranking out 90 spas a day but have gone down due to covid.  Covid is really the x factor now. Seems covid is getting worse which could slow things down more.

Our local dealer ordered a couple tubs (M Series) for their sales floor in early May.  These two tubs are scheduled to be delivered on Aug 7.  One of the two that they ordered happened to be exactly what I want, so I put a deposit down on it.  Iím being told by two separate Bullfrog dealers that new orders today wonít be delivered until early November.  Bullfrog is currently running a promotion through Costco (through July 5th) and these orders actually get priority with an 8-10 week delivery time.  The local dealer wasnít too happy about this.

Ordered an A8 back in late April before the big run on hot tubs. We were told we'd have it delivered in 3-4 weeks. We are still waiting.

Ordered an A8 on May 13th and was told we should have by 4th of July.

Called last week for an update and now they are saying July 27th.
That would be 10+ weeks if its accurate.
Hopefully it doesn't keep slipping.

So I just looked at my contract. I bought mine May 15th...initial projection for delivery was first week in August.  Talked to my salesperson a couple weeks ago and he said it looked on schedule.

I just thought of this....It would be nice if we could get weekly updates from bullfrog directly to know how things are going.  Or at least from a salesperson "in the know" to show up here

I ordered my R6L on 5/16 and was told they were backed up and that it'd be 5-6 weeks. Today I received a call from Scioto Valley which is who sold me the spa and was told that there were significant delays. When I pressed the manager on what that meant he told me that Bullfrog updated the PO with a delivery date of 9/6. Apparently Bullfrog told SV that they were working on a letter that they can forward on to the customer which should be within the week.

Without going into it suffice to say I'm not happy - having put in a paver patio and had the electric, etc ready for the delivery I was quoted.

My guess is that it's a supply chain issue as they have been pumping out spas like crazy.

I'll update here as I get updates, even the "letter" but those who are a few weeks out might want to revisit other options if they are needing something closer to the initial timeline they were given because it's not gonna happen with Bullfrog or so it would seem.

Unfortunately itís not just Bullfrog but every manufacturer in the world right now. Demand is at a all time high, suppliers are lacking parts to finish tubs and workforceís are running at 25%-50% staffing. I donít sell Bullfrog but do sell Marquis, Nordic and Caldera. I placed a order earlier in the week for some more Marquis Spas and the projected date of completion is March 2021, Nordic is October and Caldera Iím still not quite sure on. They are making limited tubs in limited colors and taking all orders starting Monday. Iím thinking between Hot Spring and Caldera they will probably get 50,000 or so hot tub orders Monday and Tuesday. Crazy times for sure. Worst thing is everything seems to change not only by the week but almost by the day.

I totally get you because I had my electric upgraded almost two weeks ago. Frankly, I have all the accessories already...just no spa. I was already thinking before you posted this that I'd be lucky to get my A8D in August. Bullfrog is extremely backordered plus partial or full shutdowns looming. It's going to be a long summer I think.

My guess would be this has something to do with it:

I've seen various people in multiple forums over the past few weeks mention they're looking at Bullfrog from Costco.....   I bet this deal was negotiated months before the pandemic ever hit and BF was not anticipating a surge in sales from their regular dealers.

I asked a local dealer about this (in arizona) yesterday and she said this isnt true. She said orders placed with Costco go though local dealers and no one is cutting in line.

The truth probably lies in the middle.

Costco knows what its doing in this regard, they deal with plenty of suppliers and make plenty of demands up front. When they have ANY product go on sale they make sure the supplier can meet demand. In this case Costco probably had manufacturing slots guaranteed for them for the promo and if true I doubt Bullfrog can move those out too much to satisfy a jump in demand directly from dealers.

I just spoke with the sales manager at my Bullfrog dealer and below is a c/p of the letter I was forwarded - I was going to post the actual letter but unsure how to do so via my phone.

I was told (emphatically) that they contacted Bullfrog about the Costco roadshow(s) and that the one in Columbus, OH a month or so ago they were given 16-20 week lead times. Additionally, it was mentioned that the spas sold locally were $2k more than what he was talking the same spa for, no idea how factually true that is - maybe a sales tactic.

In my dealers case he said they negotiated before the pandemic that Bullfrog would do a truck a week of x series and a special order a month which would be everything above the x. But recently with all that's happened they've not met the original agreement and now that there are so many special orders stacked up that they are only manufacturing above the x line.

I was told that my spa that was ordered 5/16 was started in the production on 7/9 and that it should arrive in 2-3 weeks, end of the month worse case.

Dear Dealer Partners,
I want to take an opportunity to let you know how much I and our teams appreciate your efforts over these last several months. Business, and life for that matter, has encountered challenges unlike anything weíve experienced before. But we continue to be amazed at your ingenuity and resiliency in the face of these challenges, partnering through deep uncertainty and leading us into record-setting demand.
On that note I want to give you the clearest picture possible of where we are with production and our efforts to keep up with this unprecedented increase in demand.
First, our number one focus as an organization is on hiring, training, and retention of new production employees. We have made great strides in manufacturing processes within the new factory, but ramping up productivity has been a struggle due to ongoing personnel shortages. Fears surrounding the COVID-19 illness, having to tend to family members affected by the virus, and enhanced unemployment benefit programs continue to serve as obstacles to hiring and retaining manufacturing staff, but ones weíre confident we can overcome. In terms of recruiting, weíre making significant changes in order to reach better qualified workers. Weíre also making improvements to our onboarding processes while creating a more engaging employee experience that aligns with our mission to create peaceful lives. We are welcoming new team members daily and expect all of these efforts to add to our production capabilities in the coming weeks and months.
As you can imagine, thereís often a lag between hiring a new employee and the point when they get proficient enough in their work to meet our quality standards. So, in addition to the efforts already mentioned, weíve launched a bridge initiative to quickly add many skilled, experienced, and capable people to our manufacturing line. These are people who many of you might recognize as theyíve come from within the Bullfrog Spas family. If you notice that some of your Regional Managers, Dealer Services Representatives, and others from around the business are a little less responsive than usual, this is the reason why. Team members from across every part of the organization are jumping in and helping increase our capabilities and capacity while we bring the many new hires up to speed.
I canít tell you how proud I am of all of our teams right now. They are caring and committed and leading this charge with their hearts.

While we hope this update helps reassure you about the action weíre taking to get spas produced as quickly as possible, we also understand the challenges youíve been facing about communicating completion dates to your customers. Please know that as we continue to update expected lead times daily on the Bullfrog Spas Dealer Site, fluctuating manufacturing and supply chain conditions make this lead time estimate a very complex and sometimes imprecise equation. We encourage you to communicate expected delivery dates with your customers as just that, an estimate, and suggest you provide a reasonable range of dates instead of an exact date. In addition, we ask you to stay in touch with your customers, offering updates and reminders about the immeasurable value a Bullfrog Spa will add to their daily lives. The more regular, positive, and encouraging the communication, the better.
As we continue to increase our production capacity, we commit to you we will continue to communicate lead time estimates and expected completion dates as accurately as possible. With current lead times extending into December of this year, we will be providing additional information regarding 2021 product plans and ordering 2021 model year spas in the coming days. Please let us know if you have any questions as we rely on open communication to move us through this different and difficult time.

Once again, my sincerest thanks for your efforts and your partnership.

Thank you,
Jerry Pasley, CEO

Dmshipley thanks for the update. Ironically,  the order for my tub was put in on the same exact date as yours...may 16. They originally told me early August to expect delivery.  I'm in Arizona which is close to Utah which may or not have a bearing on delivery times. So according to your info you are expecting delivery still in late July or early August? That was my impression.  May I ask what state you are in?

I just wanted to confirm the letter posted by dmshipley is correct as my local dealer today confirmed some of the details. They do have a "all hands on deck" approach to keeping tub production up there. They are making about 70 tubs a day right now with about 7000 spas on order.  He said its about the first of the year to get a spa ordered today. Orders for X or M series arent being fulfilled right now...Work is on the A and R series only. My order went in May 16 and I'm still scheduled to get delivery by Aug 7. He said it "may" be sooner and he will have more details in the next couple days which I will relay with you guys.

Just wanted to clarify that if you have an outstanding order it still may be in the works.  Check with your local dealer if you have an order for Stil, X, or M series.  Things are fluid and subject to change.

Currently not totally ready for it yet. but i don't like hearing they are not fullfilling any m orders. I'm waiting on an undate tomorrow from our dealer, he needed to wait until monday to call someone. I'll let you know what I hear.

I was actually told this about the m series a couple months ago even. I didn't ask why but i assume that maybe because it's a new production spa and its more labor intensive...total speculation there. My salesperson told me he told a customer about December or January for the M. With covid now its even harder to predict anything.

Speaking of predicting...my salesperson told me he'd give me a update notice call last week on my scheduled August 7 delivery. I've heard nothing.  Not feeling too confident right now on that timetable...I'll be happy if I get it in August at all.

So I just got a call from my dealer. Spa was scheduled  for August 7th...now he said it will be "built" by September 13th. Then takes a couple days to ship. He listed the date as "firm".

Kinda strange the 13th falls on a weekend as a completion date...hmm.

First of all I'm sorry to hear that you got pushed back again... Partly because it sucks for you but also because it might mean mine is further out to...

With that, I'm going to reach out to my dealer for an update which I'll share here.

My initial thought is that if I call and my date indeed is pushed back (it should if we're being told the same given our orders were set the same time) I'm going to be pissed at my dealer as they would've lied in telling me that my tub went into production 7/9. Which would be the first clear lie they'd told, likely meant to keep me hanging on so they don't lose the sale - which I'm 95% sure I'll cancel and purchase through another dealer, which for bullfrog doesn't exist within a few hour drive. If the date does move and they can follow proof that it's bullfrogs fault than I'll have issue with them and have to rethink how I can trust them.

As you probably agree, it's a dumpster fire and highly frustration - trying to balance being fair with protecting against being lied to and ultimately taken advantage of.

I ordered an A8L over Memorial Day Weekend and was told 8-10 weeks like everyone else at the time. My dealer called earlier this week with the news of a delay. Construction will be complete on Sep 26th. Bummer, but hopefully it holds and we can have it in place for the cooler fall weather.

Good point but I'd expect that from a business perspective they'd not start something that they didn't have the necessary components on-site to finish.

But who knows, I'm going to call today - yesterday got away from me.

Yeah with this situation we are in the same "tub"...ugh.

I have to admit when I first heard about my delay you are the first one I thought of because we both had our tubs ordered on May 16. Supposedly you are getting your spa by the end of July and now I'm getting mine in mid September?? I was just going to wait and see if you got your spa before I said anything. Dont know what to think at this point. Then BW13 ordered his spa two weeks later than us and he's getting a mid September due date like me. Like the timing of things arent making sense and like you I'm suspecting we might be getting stroked a little bit. I feel Bullfrog are dealing with a couple issues...They are and have been swamped with orders and they are having covid related work shortages. Either one of those things by itself could cause delay but together it's a perfect storm. I'm STILL concerned that I get my spa on the date they are giving me now. My salesman did tell me they are working double shifts and are training new personnel to get these orders out.

I ordered spas on May 16th as well, those spas are currently projected for Sept. 12....your salesman is correct though, they've hired a bunch of new people and are in the process of training those guys properly and getting them onto the production line which of course doesn't happen overnight, can't sacrifice quality just to 'ram' orders out the door.  I will say I've been told these most current dates should be more accurate than previous ones so take that for what it's worth...either way they're still building them and you'll all get your spas in the fall as the perfect hot tub weather arrives.

I just received a call from my dealer, my tub arrived on today's truck.

As happy as I am I'm hopeful that y'all get whatever you ordered sooner than later.

The awesomeness of this forum is deep and a place for us to commensurate here on our experiences has helped me remain calm.

Health and peace to you all.

Wow David that's awesome...for you! Haha  Really though im glad for you but needless to say I'm bewildered by that bit of info. I dont know what I can do about it all. I'm not mad enough to cancel my order that's for sure. Just going to ride it out and dream about it all...lol.

One thing though is he told me months ago they were hiring new guys and training them....but whatever though because I cant blame them for covid. These are strange times we live in. He did say that delivery now was firm so if I get it then I will still be happy because you are right mid September is approaching prime spa time weather...especially in Arizona.  And yeah I dont want sacrifices made on quality control just to get my spa sooner. Believe me all these thoughts have crossed my mind!

So David how has your tub been? The quality of the build acceptable? What jetpaks did you get? Did you stick with the one pump or opt for a two pump configuration on the R6L?

So my order started out being ready in August, then it was pushed to September and last week I was told end of October.  I complained to my dealer and asked if Bullfrog was going to be giving discounts for making people wait so long.  I just got a message today that they will be getting it in September and are throwing in the Sound System for me!

Unfortunately delays are becoming more and more the norm right now. Current lead times from
various manufacturers Iíve heard about are HS Highlife 26
Weeks, Caldera and the rest of Hot Springs 36 weeks,
Nordic is out to June, American Whirlpool 30 something weeks and Marquis a year plus. Have heard Bullfrog is 30 or so weeks currently. Jacuzzi and Sundance are in the 24 week or so wait. I have so many hot tubs on order itís not funny. Basically planned out my business for all of 2021 and special orders basically wonít happen. I donít see it getting better any time soon

That makes no sense...just like the the other guy that orders his spa on the same day as me and gets it while I wait an extra six weeks. You complain and they reverse the schedule and throw in extras? Wow...I just hope they don't screw around with my new delivery date because I don't know what I'll end up saying.

Ordered A7L May 11th, been pushed back 3 times to end of Sept. now.  Was told by Dealer that Costco orders in June and July took priority over my dealer May 11th order. So disappointed.  They have 100% of my $ and haven't done a damn thing in the way of a free upgrade or discount for my 20 week wait which started at 6-8 weeks.

I brought this up to a dealer about Costco orders getting priority and she flat out said that's 100% false because Costco orders still go through a dealer. But you aren't the only person to say this so frankly I don't know what to believe anymore.  Anyway I ordered may 16th and my order just got pushed back once to mid September...for now. Do I believe I'll get it then? Not really....

Did Bullfrog ever shut during Corona?  Thatís BS that Costco orders took priority. Should be first order in first order out. I get delays are happening but a lot of it is out of everybodyís hands but if they prioritized Costco orders I would be pissed.

Yeah i knew that. And you are the second person that said their dealer said that. I asked a BF dealer (not mine) and she said no way. So pffft...there it is. I guess its hard to pin to a dead certainty because they are getting swamped with orders and covid has caused delays although they've never fully shutdown over it...so said my dealer.

I ordered at the end of May and was originally quoted 10 weeks.  So if I'm now getting it on Sept 14 that's 14 weeks and they are throwing in the $1100 sound system.  Not too bad given the environment were in.

they barely did any volume at all through Costco, FYI there are MULTIPLE manufacturers prioritizing larger accounts over smaller accounts as well right now, it's not right but it's definitely happening and there are tons of dealers throughout the US who didn't have the cash or credit to order 2-400 spas like some of us and they'll be out of the business unless they have other items to sell such as furniture, pools, etc. really sad what this Covid is going to do to small businesses across the world

I hear you.  I see it with some manufacturers, not all but some including one I carry.  Thankfully for me I was able to do a bigger order but they are staggering orders so everybody gets something.  I think they are being fair about it.  You ever get those Wellis tubs in?

Well, as expected, my Bullfrog M7 that was scheduled for delivery Aug 7th (ordered mid-May) is not in production yet and Iím now hearing September.  Iíll feel pretty fortunate if it actually arrives in September.

My A8D was ordered mid may and was scheduled for early August as well...now they tell me mid September too.

The M series is pretty sweet...the M8 would be my dream spa with its innovative double loungers and THREE pumps... although the seats wouldn't face the right way in my back yard. The A8D is oriented more to my liking and the main lounger rivals the m8 loungers. The M series is so amazing though for a lot of reasons.

So some poster (JoesTub) in the hottubforum ordered a A8L mid June and got it yesterday...ahh I ordered mine mid may and am still waiting?? They told him when he ordered it 10 weeks and he got it on schedule...when I ordered mine they told me August 7th then said at least mid September.  Does this guy know someone or something I don't? Wow...I guess I'm a nobody...lol

I'm a nobody and could be way off the mark but maybe dealer volume has something to do with it? My local Bullfrog dealer told me at least February until he gets any spas and that was a month ago. I was really interested but with nothing to wet test and not wanting to wait that long I went with a competitors tub.

The kinda crazy part was the guy claimed he had a used competitors model that he just took in. I was very interested in purchasing it but he wouldn't show it. Said he was saving it so people could wet test it against his Bullfrogs. So he's selling nothing for 6 months or I don't know.....?

I saw that post. Looks like he bought from the Great Escape. They are probably the biggest hot tub dealer in the country based on amount of stores they have. That guy May have ordered that particular tub but they probably had that color combo on order already with probably another 1000 or so tubs on order.

Ordered an R7L on June 2.  I was initially told to expect delivery in August.  On July 24th I got an email changing the date to October 24.  On August 28 I got another email changing the date to November 21.  That's over half a year (193 days) from when I ordered.  Is anyone else in the same boat for a early June order?  They took my money up front and have offered nothing aside from "sorry".

I ordered my spa May 16 and got it last week. There is no ryme or reason with these guys. Ppl that ordered after me got it sooner....then you only order two weeks later and get pushed back way further.  I have no idea how they prioritize these spas. But anywhere you go for a spa will be a long wait now...unless there is one in stock. Maybe you should just go in the store and pick one out and take it...if you can.

Unless it's an M-Series it's 'First In, First Out' there is no priority given to any of the A/R/X series spas, M series is taking a little longer than those due to supply chain delays.  If someone did order before you and received it it's because they didn't have all the parts to build it in time so it's not a priority issue but rather a supply chain issue as mentioned

Order my M9 May 23. Initially told July 19-August 1. July 20, moved to Oct 2. Spoke with regional sales director and said oct 2 is a good date. With no word, I called on Oct 12. I was told it will be going into production on 10/14. It should finish production by 10/23 and put on the rails. Taking another week. So to distribultor not until 10/30. I have lost all faith in what Bullfrog says anymore. They were wrong with the electrical specs on thier site, out $200 in electrician fees haivn go switch stuff out. This company just needs to get their stories straight.
