Title: New tub coming in 2 weeks
Post by: Deb1eric on June 05, 2019, 03:03:35 pm
I got a Bullfrog R8 coming in 2 weeks and the dealer isn't giving me any starter chemicals, just a frog ease smartclor system with whatever cartridges I need to fill the tub.  I've been researching how to maintan the water and I'm thinking I need ph up and down, water clarifier, foam control, total alkality increase and decrease, scale n stain inhibiitor and anything else?  I'm a Amazon addict, what brands are the best?  Leisure time? Spa guard? Do I need a scumbug or tennis balls?  There's so much to learn.  Not sure if I will continue with the SmartChlor because it seems expensive so will probably switch to dichlor.

suggest not buying non-essential chemicals like foam control or water clarifiers.  if you correctly balance your water it will usually be clear and relatively foam free.

I use dichlor (or bleach), baking soda (which is exactly the same as alk up products that sell for X the price of baking soda). PH down sparingly when needed, calcium (i have soft water but yours may be hard), a metal sequestering agent at startup, and a scum bug.

All the brands of chemicals are basically the same.
But i should caveat that this is what works for me. It's possible you'll find you either need something else or don't need something i've mentioned.
