Title: New owner! Bullfrog x7L
Post by: Skysurfer2010 on December 01, 2016, 06:19:55 pm
Since I've been lurking/ asking questions here for the past month I thought I'd finally say I just put a deposit down on my new Bullfrog x7L. I got a midnight shell with the grey case. I was given a really killer deal over Black Friday from a local dealership for $6,500 which includes the tub, cover, lifter, steps, startup chemicals, and delivery/ set up. I decided to see if a dealer just 15 minutes further away in DE would match the price and they did! This saved me $500 in taxes thanks to DE being tax free!

I'd mention the name of the dealership since he has been extremely great to deal with but I'm not sure if that's against the forum rules here? If it isn't against the rules I'd gladly say who the dealer is since so far he has been a pleasure to deal with and gives you the impression he genuinely cares about your business.

Thanks to all the great people here for steering me away from a Home Depot tub and towards a bullfrog. Can't wait for delivery! I'll post pics when it arrives!

Congratulations on your purchase. Pretty sure it's not against any rules to name the dealership on here.  How long before delivery?

Thanks! 3 to 5 weeks. I'm hoping to have it by the end of the month!

I'm getting very anxious waiting for my tub to arrive!!  My dealer said it should arrive this week.

Exciting time for sure. Do you have the electrician all lined up and ready to go?

The wiring was done a few weeks ago! The electrician is going to come back on the delivery day to connect the wiring to the tub.

On a side note, I had one electrician give me a quote for $4,400! I told him I already had one quote for $1,000. He then "cut me a deal" and said he'd do it for $2,200. I told him to have a nice day haha.

Wow. One electrician wanted over $4k just to do a 230 hookup?! That's ridiculous!
Our spa is being put in place of my existing one, but we have to re-wire because the new sub-panel now has a separate heater control and 2 breakers. Luckily my husband's job regularly includes working with electricity so he can do the re-wiring for it.

I understand entirely about the anxious part. I can't wait for my new tub to get here!! I ordered my Caldera at the beginning of December but still have a couple more weeks to wait because Caldera has a shut down for retooling this time of year. I recall that same wait 15 years ago when I bought my Tahitian.

The good: the tub arrived on Wednesday!

The better: it's absolutely stunning. I didn't see this color combo in person (midnight shell, harbor grey case) and it really looks amazing.

The bad: my electrician isn't coming until early next week to run the wires from the tub to the GFCI. This is pure torture!

On a side note, my dealer The Backyard Fun Store in Bear, DE has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Before, during, and after the sale he has been a true professional.

I was going to add some cool pics of the delivery in the city and some pics of the tub but it seems like I can't add any attachments. I then uploaded them to photobucket but that site is being a PITA and won't let me copy any links while on an iPad. So I guess I won't be adding any pics :(

I played around with photobucket on my phone and it seemed to like that marginally better.

Here's some pics of delivery. Don't judge the city living too harshly! It also rained the entire day prior which turned everything into a mud pit.

These pics do the tub NO justice. I'll add more after I have it filled and running.

That looks outstanding.  I went with a light colored shell but strongly considered dark initially.  Looks great!

Thanks for sharing the photos.  Seeing their crane rig is pretty slick.  A nice one man operation they have there...

Thanks! Did you go with an x also? I'm curious if the front logo is lit. Would be a nice touch if it is, but I'm not expecting it since it's their lower end models.

Is the cover lifter screwed into the access panel? Do you have to remove it to access the inside? Just curious because I wanted to put my cover lifter like yours but the installation guys told me to put it a different way so I could still access the inside.

I'm assuming it does need to be removed to access it. I needed it done that way for space reasons in my yard.

Did you happen to see the guts of the rig before they installed your cover lifter?  You likely would have seen one or two loose LEDs wired up but hanging separately while they had the cover off if the logo is lit.  I have an A series and the front logo is wicked bright...almost too bright to be honest.  It shines into the windows of our second story bedroom at night from our deck.  First world problems to be sure...

Well I'm still waiting for the electrician to do the wiring from the tub to the GFCI. I never saw the panel open yet. I'm sure it would be relatively easy to light if it's not already. Just curious.

Are you in a cold climate?  I'd be concerned about water freezing in your plumbing whilst waiting for install if you were too far north...

I wouldn't fill it until there's power to it.

Electrician comes tomorrow to run the conduit. Then the tub gets filled and the fun starts!

The plumbing already has water in it...Bullfrog tests their tubs before they ship.  Hopefully you're good!

I asked my dealer about that. He said its fine. It does get shipped on a flat bed truck exposed to the elements after all.
