Title: Our new-used Jacuzzi J375 Ready!
Post by: Topline Mike on April 04, 2014, 12:47:17 pm
We finished up the wiring this morning for our new to us tub.  I also finished building the deck which the hot tub sits on.  I was a little nervous of the weight of the tub, but nothing moved.  I used 2X8's to build the deck, and 4X4's for 4 corner supports.  She is warming up as I type this.  I post more pics later as I go along.  My well water is just ugly looking.  I tried to use the pre-filter, but it wouldn't fit inside the hole that the filter screws on.  I used soft water for the last 1/3 or so.

Topline Mike...I had similar well water in one of my homes and had similar issues....Put a whole house filter on my line feeding the house and cleared things up a bunch...Filters got changed out in the filter every 3-5 months as needed and loved it....Home Depot sells them and it was fairly inexpensive...

I do have a whole house filter dunecritter, but my spigot for water in the basement is before the filter.  Here are some pictures of the brand new filters I put in the tub this morning.  I guess they did their job in about 5 hours of running the pumps.  The water in the tub is very clear now.  The hose made them look new again.

Took some more pictures on this beautiful Sunday morning here in Southern WI.  Had some wildlife out in the fields, also.

Very nice, Mike!

I love the setting!  (You can bag dinner while you're soaking :))
I wouldn't change anything, but I am curious as to why you elevated the tub?

Nice, thanks for sharing.   Personally I hate seeing kids in goggles in a hot tub.  I always have a fear that someone will get their hair caught on something when they put their head underwater I also hate the thought of all that hair product getting in the water.

I'm an empty nester with no kids, so what do i know?

rosewood, I elevated the tub so I would stay level.  In the spring when the frost starts coming out of the ground, my patio heaves up and down all over the place.  I checked the level before I started building the deck, and I had 4 inches of fall in 8'.  Since building the deck last week, the frost has left the ground and now it's back to flat again.  One of the issues where the hot tub sits is that my hot water supply from my outdoor wood burner runs to the house in this area, and there is no frost below that supply line.  I plan on trimming out the deck with some trex decking material to match the spa.

wmccall, my youngest son won't go in the tub unless he has those goggles.  He likes the jets off, and just floats around in there happy as could be.  There's always at least two empty water bottles floating around the tub also, just to fart around with.

Looks great!!    It should have the Required by law Virginia Gram Baker suctions covers in place.   Yours should as well Bill, if you feel the need to go snorkeling in the spa...

Coming up on 2 years, and still enjoying the heck out of our hot tub.  Only one minor problem with the lights.  Other than that, I highly recommend a Jacuzzi hot tub.
