I'm always 1 step ahead of the camera.  It's like trying to spot Bigfoot or Ryan Leaf or some other mythical creature.

I'm taking my 15 minute break.

Yes sir.  I bought a Samsung system at Sam's Club.  It came with 4 cameras, a monitor, and a built-in video server.  I had some tech geek come in and set us up on dyndns.com.  The service is free.  The security system can be expanded to 12 cameras, I believe.  We'll probably add more next time we have a party.

You might have to disable your pop-up blocker.  It should then ask if you want to close the window, click "No".  The winddow will be minimized on your lower tool bar.

Hmmmmm......a lady just called me, asked "Is this Termie?  Well this is So and So.  You know how you're always telling me I can come up to your store and get in the spa and drink wine?  Well, me and 3 other girls are wanting to come up there and do that."

Me:  "Sure!  When are you talking about?"

So and So:  "Not today...I've got to talk to everyone and find out when is a good time."

Me:  "OK, just call and let me know when you're coming."

So and So:  "Thank's a lot...you are so sweet!"

Now, I'm sitting here trying to figure out just who the heck I was talking to.  The caller ID showed a number from one of the local banks, and I have my suspicions as to who it was.

Ought to be interesting.

It really is somewhat unsettling at times.  I'm a moderately paranoid individual anyways who would rather come out shooting and ask questions later.  I don't know how many times I've almost shot our delivery guys.  They like to try and sneak past the cameras early in the morning and usually find themselves with a .45 barrel pressed up against their nose.  It's kinda like Inspector Clouseau and his manservant the way we bushwack one another.

I've put my powers of deduction to the test and believe I have my finger on the mystery caller.  I think it is a woman I went to high school with that I see around town.  Her husband is a friend of mine as well.  They have been interested in a hot tub for several years and I'm always encouraging them come try them out.  I guess she and her friends are going to take me up on it.

Ding danged cameras!

My boss popped over around noon for an inpromptu meeting, so I busted out a bottle of wine.  I had taken the cameras off line because it slows down the internet connection here at the store.  Sure enough, this good lookin' woman came in to look at a Solana TX and I just knew Dr. Spa was pointin' and clickin' his fingers raw to capture a still shot.  Then I came back in here and saw that the cable was unplugged and I wept.

Anyways, Gomboman, yes...I can set the camera on just one frame or can have them rotate.  I was disappointed in the quality of the picture when I remotely viewed from home, so I am going to see about upgrading to a faster server.  The picture flows very smoothly here on the store's computer, but was very herky-jerky and pixilated on my home computer (which is 4 or 5 years old which may be the problem).

Anyways, the camera is running again if anyone cares.

Nice job with the cameras. one question since the cameras are working does that mean no one else has to or do you close early on Fridays?

Oh ho ho...wanting to know my precise times and movements, eh?  I hope you're not seriously contemplating a little B&E excursion during the time you THINK I'm not here.  I figured there would be 1 or 2 criminally inclined forum members that might exploit the situation, but I never thought it would be you!

I have the entire perimeter interlaced with trip wires, flash bang grenades, and armed robotic sentinels that were designed by James Cameron...so please reconsider...for your own sake. ;)

Actually, I work Tuesday thru Saturday and get Sunday and Monday off.  I am here most of the time because I can take it easy here.  Can't do that at home.

The password is still "hotspring".

The Federal Internet Police just stopped by on their bicycles.  They were wanting to know if there were going to be any hydrotherapy technicians working today so that they could monitor the area.  I told them I might get in the spa later, they told me they'd see me next week.

Gonna sell some spas today, I feel it in my bone.

I would love to put one of these in my store - but I would go nuts on a slow day.

I have a small two-camera CCTV system which allows me to watch the parking lot and the sales floor from my lofty upstairs penthouse office suite. It is much better than just looking out the windows to see the same area....

Term, you're working so hard it's making me busy. It's around 12:00 noon my time. People keep coming into the store. Did the two ladies buy a spa? One has a red top and the other white. It looks like they are serious shoppers.....

My days of voyeurism must be over.  When I first logged onto the webcam, things were fine.  Four pictures that filled most of the screen, however, the only thing moving were cars outside.
This morning I couldn't get logged on
I try later and get logged on but the four pictures that once almost filled the  screen now total the size of a match book cover.
And now the pictures won't come up, period, and I get some 'module number 0 message'.

If anything exciting happens don't tell me, I'm going to sulk. :'(

Gombo- it did get pretty busy for awhile!

The two ladies (mother and daughter) are on their way to the mall to see the spas we have out there.  Her nephew bought an Envoy 3 years ago from me and is very pleased with it.  She is going to get a Jetsetter, but wants to go see what the pearl/redwood combo looks like.

The other couple that was here were interested in the Prodigy, but want the MotoMassage and will probably get the Sovereign HP.  They are also on their way to the mall to see the pearl/redwood combo.

The man in the red Corvette is wanting to trade in his Sovereign for a Vanguard.

96SC, try shutting off your computer and restarting it...that seems to work.

Gombo, most people test soak in the mood room (Envoy, Sovereign Classic).  Out on the deck, I have an Aria, Vista, Solana SX, and Tiger River Sumatran.  I sold the 2003 Landmark that was out there last week.

Chad, I don't think they're going to wet test.  I encourage everyone to, but I'll bet less than 2% take me up on it.

I'm glad your store is doing well Chas. There have been a couple of dealers in my area that have gone out of business recently. They are attributing the slow down to the soft housing market.

Most folks don't want to dump money into their home as real estate prices are dropping. Also. fewer people are taking out second mortgages to fix up their back yards like they were during the last seven years or so. I have several neighbors who used their homes as ATM machines. Lots of foreclosures in my area. It's getting ugly.

Take care.....

#3  He was a big ol' fella.  His brother bought a spa from me several years ago.  He, on the other hand, had a pool built by our local pool/spa conman who "threw in" a Sunbelt Spa as part of the package.  Unfortunately, he didn't include a cover in the deal.

I was referring him to Dr. Spa to help a brother out since it is supposed to be below freezing tonight.

Now THAT was how to take care of an angry customer.

Comes in and first words out of her mouth were "I am NOT HAPPY!"

Asked why not happy, listened to reply, sympathized, examined, reassured, demonstrated, called service tech for advice, explained remedy, listened, and then got a hug from a happy customer.

"Asked why not happy, listened to reply, sympathized, examined, reassured, demonstrated,

Ya know Term I have learned alot about business from my brother over the last few years

the best lesson he ever taught me as how to deal with an angry client

he said "let them blow"....don't interupt....let them vent and vent and vent
if it's on the phone....dont say a word while they are venting except the occasional
"yes mam" or "oh my" just to let them know you are still on the line and listening

they are looking for a fight or argument.....dont give them their wish
brings new meaning to "silence is golden"

they eventually run outta gas if you let them go on and on
many times they start repeating the same details thinking it will enhance the story
they are like a fighter that punches themselves out....they are gassed

but just let them ramble and be a great concerned attentive LISTENER

then "be on their side....make them feel....you feel their pain"

usually they quickly dis-arm

Your brother is absolutely right and that is exceptionally good advice.  I have seen many people over the years get their dander up and start making the customer out to be wrong.  That is a disaster in the making.

Now, if someone comes in cussin' and acting like a jackass, that's a different story.  I'll thell them to smack my crack and poot off.

Look at that goatsmellin' wind blow!  It has got to be gusting at 40+ mph.  I got to go take my banners down before they blow all the way to Red Lobster!

Sold a Sovereign to that fellow in here earlier.  He was on the BeBackBus!

Hey...T-Lady..where ya been?...I was thinking about you the other day....how are things with your tub and the switch to bromine??

Tub's been sitting, unoccupied for the last while...something about rather be out riding our horse than sitting on my beHIND in the tub or something. ;) I've had some issues with bromine, though...at 'regular' levels, it makes my hands itch.  :-/ So, I think we'll be going back to dichlor, just not really sure at this stage. Go figure. *lol*

Dadgum!  We're running out of spas.  For those of you who are able to get the webcams to work, you'll notice there are getting to be a lot of empty spaces in the store.  This is usually one of the worst times of the year for spa sales, but since we've got some tubs over at the mall, we're popping 1 or 2 spas a day, for which we're very thankful.

Hope everyone finishes up the year strong...this will be my last official day at work until January, so Merry Christmas and see ya'll in '08. :)

Ho Ho Ho's!

Term, what spa do you have standing on its side in Cam 2? Is it tore up to show the full foam or the guts of the equipment compartment for demo purposes. If so, I would like to see a close up.

Thank you for your pertinent and topical question.  As always, I will do my best to answer it without trepidation.

The spa in question is a HotSpring Jetsetter, which just so happened to have been sold approximately 45 minutes ago by my associate at our Tyler store.

The spa was turned up on its end to (a) maximize the space in the showroom and (b) afford the customers opportunity to view the underside of the spa.

I will now give a detailed overview of the spa and its features for your perusement on Channel 2.

Thank you.

Wow - it was so slow today we had a bowling tournament in the store and didn't hit a single customer. For those of you from Texas: "Coulda' swung a cat and not het a soul."

But I snuck out to run a few errands and oh my! The roads are clogged with shoppers - couldn't have gotten close to the mall if I wanted to!

Sure glad my people have finished all my Christmas shopping already.

However, the one spa we did sell was also a Jetsetter. Did it in the customer's backyard tho ... they had been in earlier in the week and we went out to do a free site survey and closed it up.

I bought a sailboat on the way home! Mrs. Chas approved!

I had to laugh at the news people while I was out there.  Everyone was getting worked up becuase of "the wind".   This morning is was something like -12F here with 15" of snow.  I think we hit a high of 9F today and it's not looking any better tomorrow.

When it rains here it makes big news and everyone piles into each other on the freeways. My wife's from Chicago and she laughs when our news stations cover the "Storm Watch" footage after it rains a half inch or so........

I'm not defending the overall weirdness of the average Californian, but I will say that the streets are like ice when we get months of dry weather and then a light rain. The oil turns into an emulsion and the streets are real slippery. You'd think they could come up with some sort of system to keep this from happening - I drove from home to the middle of LA one rainy day and counted over a dozen wrecks on the way down and another half dozen on the way home.

OK Term, I have an idea. Since your web cam doesn't have sound, I thought you should come up with something creative for us. Either make up a sound track of your own which can play - sort of like 'music on hold' or something, or make yourself some dialog balloons which you could hold up to the camera when you know people are a'watchin.

I have full trust in your ability to create fun and educational things to 'say' using this system. In fact, I can think of no other person I would rather have working on this very important time wasting educational experience.

I had to go do a service call. Myself! Imagine that. But it was right on the beach, my daughter went with me, and it couldn't have been a nicer day. The problem turned out to be a Nature2 cartridge, left in there for five years, which had come apart and plugged the circ pump. I vacuumed it out, then opened the plumbing and let it back flow - it all came out. I'm the hero! I love it!

Here's the picture I promised - sorry, but it was very bright.
