Bullfrog Spas / Does your Bullfrog lighting package feel like it is undewhelming?
« Last post by Davekro on December 22, 2023, 12:14:58 am »
The fellow in this YouTube video did not say which Trim Level of A7 he was reviewing, but I'm pretty sure it was the 'Plus Trim' because it had a 3-tiered water fall, but the cabinet was not 2-tone (Select).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5xiiQMEqgE

He felt his lighting ('Premium Lighting' I assume) was underwhelming compared to the rest of the great A7 Bullfrog features. He LOVED his A7. He was just a little disappointed in the lighting feature, but in balance said it was a small thing overall.

I'd be curious to hear what Trim level, and hence Std. vs. Premium lighting package you have and what you think of it. I'm told that the 'Select' Trim comes with (2) LED's under each headrest. Very Cool, but I doubt I'll spring an extra ≈$2500 (A6) or ≈$4300 (A7) over the base 'Standard Trim' for the extra LED's, Tungsten Bezels, Adjustable Headrests, and maybe a few extra LED's under the 3-tier water fall (??). All nice things, but not for those premiums for my wallet. YW(wallet)MV.  ;)

Thanks for any input on Bullfrog lighting.

Bullfrog Spas / Bullfrog Standard Headrests vs. Premium Headrests
« Last post by Davekro on December 21, 2023, 11:58:11 pm »
Can anyone describe the difference between 'Standard (Trim) Headrest', and the other two higher Trim's 'Premium Headrests'? I'm told that Std HR's are soft, so you cannot sit on them and have your legs dangle into the tub. ??? The Premium HR's are said to be hard (and wider), so you can sit on them. Curious if you can speak to your knowledge of the two headrest types?

Thank You,
Dave

Makes perfect sense. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on colors. I think along the same lines, but wondered if I was missing something in some peoples draw to darker colors.  ;)

I much prefer the lighter/white shades (Pearls/Platinum/Arctic White/Snow White, each manufacturer uses different names for essentially the same color) to anything in the brown/grey/black tones.  I think the lighter colors will always look classic, easier to spot if your have debris/need to vacuum the spa and the lights reflect nicely at night off the lighter acrylic.  I also feel like the whiter shades age a little better, every time I have a dark brown/black shade on the showroom floor I feel like if I breathe on it heavily it scratches, kind of like buying a black car, looks great all polished up but easily attracts dirt/scratches. Just my .02

Hot Tub Forum / What shell colors you have had and why you chose your current color?
« Last post by Davekro on December 21, 2023, 12:37:29 am »
I am early on in shopping for a new hot tub. I had a low-end acrylic shell entry level 7x7 hot tub that I bought in ≈ 1982. I kept it alive until about 2010, moving from house to house a few times. I liked its light, sightly blue shell color. The few tubs I have looked at in the last two weeks seem to have either white or light colored shells.  I was just looking through the Show Us Your Hot Tub forum. Fun to vicariously feel the excitement of the new owners!  :)

Anyway, I see a number of darker blues, browns etc. for shell colors. So I want to ask people's opinions on why they chose the color of their current tub and if they had a different color before, why they changed?

I am initially thinking of people here that had color choices, as opposed to "This the color they had, or what I found from a private party, and I was OK with it".  Although, a separate question for folks that got a tub whose color was just what it was. If the color was not an initial draw, how did you feel about that color over time?

Thanks to anyone willing to share their thoughts on shell color choice.

Bullfrog Spas / Definition of Bullfrog Trim Level features and/ or components??
« Last post by Davekro on December 20, 2023, 11:40:30 pm »
I am wondering if either a Bullfrog dealer or knowledgeable owner can describe what the features or components listed in the three Trim Levels are? I'm specifically looking at the A6L.

1) For example: "Standard water feature", describe its characteristics, size shape or whatever and how the "Premium water feature" is different and better/ fancier.
2) Headrests Std vs. Premium
3) Lighting Std vs. Premium
4) Jet Bezels Std vs. Select Tungsten metallic. Would this be a 'tungsten coated' metal or plastic bezel (not solid tungsten bezel?) Is it strictly visual, or is there some enhance usability?
5) 8-Button Standard Control: is 8 separate physical buttons, 8 sep. touch sensitive buttons, or one button you press 8 times to scroll thru flow options?
6) Premium 3-button auxiliary Controls: Is this 3 separate controls around the edge of the tub to control the nearest JetPak(s)? The 2013 A6L SS had a few aux. 3-press controls (off, low, high).
7) Jet Pack Count: I assume Std = 3, Premium = 4 Jetpaks
8) EOS Enhanced Ozone System: What makes it enhanced, and is notably better than whatever a std Ozone generator is?

Thanks in advance for any info for us new to Bullfrog tubs, but keenly interested. :o)

It appears that the 'Profile' link/tab appeared after I had made 'X' posts. I now have (10) posts, so maybe the 'Profile' option appear after a new person has posted 5 or 10? posts.

My Profile has no link to create an icon for my account. Maybe that appears after another 'X' number of posts. I'll post back if/when I notice creating an icon picture comes available.

Cheers,
Dave

I figured out how to post pictures:
1) Upload your pictures to a 3rd party photo storage site like Flickr. https://www.flickr.com/
2) Place cursor in your WTBHT message where you want the link located.
3) click the 'Insert Hyperlink' Icon above message window (second row, second icon in that looks like a blue globe)
4) Copy the URL (website address) from a browser window you have open that you want to post a link for.
5) Go back to the browser window with your message, your cursor will be blinking between the two HTML tags http://, select 'Paste' and your URL will be inserted between the HTML tags.
6) Hit return. Your link will now show in your message.

Hey Hot Tubbies,

I have been seriously considering a Bullfrog 2013 A6L SS from a local dealer. But now reading that its single 2-speed pump may could be somewhat low on pressure, especially given that this particular A6L has (4) JetPaks, instead of (3). On the good side, it has a Circ. Pump (1/15 HP).

I ran across the fact that Bullfrog annually does Roadshow Events at Costcos in seven regions across the country. They will be near me in the SF Bay Area/ Nor Cal. the first few months of 2024. They go for 1 week at one area Costco, then to another, eight stores in this Nor Cal. region.
Here is a link to the 2024 Bullfrog/ Costco Roadshow schedule.  http://https://www.costco.com/bull-frog-spas-schedule.html

If anyone has purchased a Bullfrog via one of these Costco Bullfrog Roadshows, we love to hear the details of your experience. Did you have to buy specifically spec'ed tub, say the base Trim Level for each model? Just a few models? I understand that the pricing was ≈ 18% below dealer quoted prices. Local dealer prices will vary, but I'd guess The Roadshow Event prices will be the same across all Roadshow Costco stores. I understand that local dealers actually put on the Roadshow events. I sent an inquiry on pricing and model availability to Bullfrog via their website yesterday. If I get any response, I'll post it here. I'll probably call a large local dealer and ask if they are the ones putting on the Tracy Costco Bullfrog roadshow (nearest me Jan 5th – 14th 2024)

I may be tempted to work an extra two months before retiring this spring to justify adding ≈ $10,000 to my ‘$5,000 used tub budget’. Not sure about going the new Bullfrog route even if the Roadshow pricing turns out to save between ≈$3100 to $3500 depending on the Trim Level of the A6L (Standard, Plus, Select).

Let's keep this thread on Bullfrog tubs via Costco and not get off-topic or thread jacked onto Costco brand tubs. Thank You

Here's some pics of the 2013 A6L SS for $3900 I am considering.

Hot Tub Forum / Does your Bullfrog A6L have TWO Jet Pumps and a Circ. Pump?
« Last post by Davekro on December 20, 2023, 03:37:42 am »
There is a 2013 Bullfrog A6L in good shape for $3900 at a reputable local dealer that I am seriously considering. It has FOUR Jetpaks, (1) 2-speed Jet Pump and a 1/15 HP Circ. Pump.

I was just reading where some A6 single pump owners or wet testers were saying that the pressure is lower at the Jetpaks at the end of the circuit. When I did my wet test last Saturday, I had no idea of how the water flowed into the first Jetpak and continued on to #2, #3, & #4 Jetpak. I did play with turning off the paks I was not using, but not paying enough attention to notice differences. Is the circuit flow direction counterclockwise around the tubs paks and fixed jets?

The C'clockwise order of Jetpaks as I wet tested it were: Oscilator (Lounge), RainShower, Alleviate, NeckMasseuse. Am I correct that the (4) largest looking jets in the first location (or last??) in the water circuit, the Oscilator Jets would have the largest GPM flow of these 4 paks? And that the (8) medium looking Jets in the 4th (?) location would also have a high GPM pak flow? Maybe the RainShower (2nd) has the lowest GPM pak flow? I'm totally guessing here.

The grey adjusting star knobs to turn each pak on & off were pretty difficult to turn. Can these be cleaned or lubricated to turn more easily, or do they just wear with age and that's just how it is with 10 year old star knobs?

I just LOVE the A6L model. Now I am wondering if I just let this single Jet Pump tub go, and hold out to hope a TWO Jet Pump A6L shows up on the used market in my area (SF Bay Area). Are Dual Jet Pump A6Ls common or rare in the used market? I balk at the ≈$17k to $20k price I see for new A6Ls. More than 4x this 10 year old tubs cost. Costco's near me will be having the Bullfrog roadshow Events going in early January. I think those discounts are supposed to be significant, but if $3k savings via Costco's Bullfrog Event, still 3x this 10 yr old tub's cost. Way over my budget...

I would love to find a +/- 4 year old A6L with Dual Pumps + a Circ. pump for $5k to $6k soon in the private or dealer market. I want to get a sense from people more in the know here if it is a pipe dream to hope one pops, up even in the next six months?

Here are some pics of the 10 yr old A6L I'm considering. Also, what does the SS in the model # on the factory s/n label mean? Current A6L specs seem to say that the base A6L comes with 3 Paks. This one has 4 Paks, But NOT a second 2-speed pump that I or the dealer can see.
(I hope I got images to show here. I just got a Flickr acct to do this. ;o)
