I bought an XD-40 before Springfield bought them out. It was called an HS2000 and they were made in Croatia. They are very nice guns. I sold it to our service manager to help pay for the Walther.

They still are made in Croatia. Springfield just bought the license to distribute them under their own name here in the USA, at least.
Since then they've added quite a few variations on the model, and introduced several calibers.

I liked the HS2000 sooooooo much better than a Glock. The only problem I had on mine was a weak extractor, but I'm sure they've fixed that problem. Other than that, I loved the thing.
Do you do any competitive shooting or, like me, just blast milk jugs, paper, and Coke cans? ;D

Brewman:
I wish I could blast away at the things you listed, but all our country is now city, so I have to go to the local pistol range and punch holes in paper. And no competition so far.
I shot a glock once, and it wasn't for me. The handle was raked back too much, where my XD has the angle identical to the 1911.
The only complaints on the XD I'm aware of is a rust issue, which mine doesn't suffer from.
Springfield Armory offers a lifetime warranty so I have a lot of faith in their products.

I understand what you mean about the Glock, I hated the grip. I know they are good guns, but they are UGLY!
It is getting harder to find places to shoot nowadays. My family has 200 acres along the Sabine River where we sometimes do some shooting. There is a big gunshow in Dallas this weekend and my dad wants me to go with him. Thinking about picking up an Aimpoint scope for my new gun and more ammo (can never have too much!)
If you get the chance, go to http://www.ilovemyspa.com and click on the photo link. That is our company website. There's a pic of me sitting on a HotSpring Grandee with my daughter's Airsoft gun. I've got a real one identical to it at home, a 1965 Colt with a 4 digit serial #. It's my pride and joy.
Well, it's closing time. Have a good evening and we'll talk to you later.
