GFCI Box

My Caldera Dealer says that a GFCI box is included with his spas.  If I buy a Sundance I will have to pay extra $200 for one.  Is this right, or does Sundance employ a different technology that doesn't require a GFCI box?

Hot Spring and I guess Caldera (same parent company)gives you a box - others do not. It isn't too much of a big deal. I think I paid about $60 - $100 for a disconnect. The breaker was another cost which either way you would need. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and check the cost out. BTW, I think Sundance can use a 60 AMP service - see how much difference that is from 50 Amp.

Don't let something like that persuade you either way - let the tub and confidence in the dealer be your guide.

Sundance as a company does not include the GFCI breaker or box, a particular dealer could chose to if they wanted.  Best to settle on a specific brand/model of spa then see what is required for hookup.
A GFCI breaker at 50 or 60 amps could cost at least $80.  I paid $120 for mine.

Yes about 80.00 dollars will get you all the box you need....HD sells one for about 120 that has a 110 plug in it I believe.....lol...or should I say out-let

Mendo is exactly right- Home Depot has 2 models, one at $125 (in my area) and the other at $90. I believe the only difference between them was that the pricier one has a separate 15A circuit for things like lights/accessories.

Just make sure you township allows it ... I believe mine doesn't.

Speaking of GFCI boxes, make sure you get an electrician that's hooked a spa up before so your salesman can at least do a start-up.

I purchased mine at Lowes for $89.  It will actually say Spa GFCI on the box.
