I found a new job!

Campsalot:
Yep, I have a great experience to talk about that is directly attributable to an insurance company.  Don't worry I'll be brief as I need to get back to fighting my "ring around the tub issue".
This involves a devastating hail storm that struck our area in June 1998.  Softball hail pummeled everything in our city of 60,000.  Windshields gone!  Campers gone!  Home roofs gone!  Trees, branches, leaves gone!  This storm was so bad that snow plows were called out to clean out the various city streets.  It was a unique storm in the fact that hail struck prior to the rainfall instead of the other way around.  Nothing, like my cedar shakes had the chance to soften up and get ready to be pummeled.  Not that it mattered though, those stones were huge!
Most of the insurance company’s immediately sent out adjusters.  My company, Farmers Union made the error of using an adjusting company.  Their adjustors were penny minded dorks with no idea as to the values of things that needed to be repaired or replaced.  Their adjustment on my home; which was damaged as bad as anyone else’s in the neighborhood, was over 10 grand shy of what my actual estimates came in at to repair the damages.  I called my agent and explained my dilemma and the very next day a real Farmers Union adjustor was there redoing the adjustment.  Guess what?  $2300.00 higher than the estimates and they paid it all!  They also terminated their relationship with the crap adjustment company because others had complained as well.
So there you have it, a true and good story about the evil insurance industry.  I have discovered though that the old adage of "treating people with politeness plus being fair and square" or "treating people the way we would want to be treated"  comes full circle every time.

Congrats on your new career!  You sound like someone who knows what they want and have the guts to get it!  Good for you!
