Having been using electronic forms of communication for 20 years now, I can tell you its easy to misinterpret someones emotion in a post, or read anger that isn't there.   That's where the lighten up comes in.  

Now toughen up, if you think somene has offended you, or slighted you, take it up with them personally in IM, nobody else cares.
