I'm padding(round 2)
Bonibelle:
Galen, I love your new bird. I think she is a young Yellow Nape Amazon...am I right? Her beak is light, that is the only thing throwing me....maybe a double yellow head? In any case, she is a beauty...
galen:
Hmmmm. know your birds do ya? Good guesses Boni. But wrong on both counts. She is often confused with a Blue front or a Yellow front. As you must know Amazons get very aggressive around the age of five.I picked her spices for their mild manner and sweet disposition. She is a Panama. Not popular because they are not brightly colored. Kona is only 7 months old. Just a baby. It seems like she learns a new word every day. I'm trying to teach her Whasssuuuup! She's making this weird sound. I think she is trying to sound like me when I fell asleep in my office. Not good. ::)
tileman:
Galen,
I have always been fascinated by birds. Yours is beautiful. I wish I knew more about them so I could own one myself. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to take care of them properly and I don't want to put such a magnificant creature in any danger.
To keep this legal, have you ever brought one in the tub with you?
Chad
galen:
No, I haven't just because she is so young Kona still doesn't know me that well. We will be life long buddies. She will out live me by 50 years. They commonly live to 80. Kona and I do take showers together. She loves it. Now I don't know why but she starts saying "OH WOW" in the shower. I'll take a picture of her the next time she's wet. Tileman once you get one, they are addictive. How cool is it to have a pet that talks to you? I take her to work with me.
anne:
Kona is a beauty!!!! I grew up with a double yellow head, and he is still with my parents- 3 years older than me!!! He could imitate my crying so well that my mom could not tell the difference sometimes. Once my grandparents came over and stood there patiently at the door for 15 minutes waiting to be let in -- every time they knocked they heard my "mom" say "just a minute!!!". Then my parents arrived home and said, "why didn't you just let yourself in??". They are amazing animals. I see a fair number of them at my practice, since a lot of vets will not work on them. Galen: let me be a nagging avian vet just once, and then I'll shut up. You feed her pelleted food, not seed, right? If so, good job. If not, PM me and lets have a little talk......... ::)
