Freshwater salt and calcium hardness

(1/1)

Chops1857:
Is it a problem if you lower the hardness below 50? I used the vanish pillow and my hardness is at about 20-25. Should I get some calcium and try to raise it to 50? Will hardness below the stated target harm the tub?

cranbiz:
Hardness isn't as important in an acrylic tub but does help prevent foaming. You want the CH above 50ppm and usually around 150ppm. If you are not having foaming problems, you really don't need to do anything.

Hottubguy:
Freshwater salt tubs it works best between 25-50 PPM I’ve found

Chops1857:
Hardness that low doesn’t damage other components? I’ve always head how water that soft is corrosive and damaging.

Sammi:
Did you get the Freshwater test strips with your starter kit? They show ideal hardness is 25-50 for a salt spa. I recommend purchasing the On the Go Portable water softener. It literally pays for itself in 3 tub fills vs the vanishing act pillows.
