Looking for a solid 2 person tub
« on: May 04, 2022, 09:40:04 am »
Looking for recommendations for a 2 person hot tub. Hoping to stay under about 6k.

I have a back concrete patio it would be on. Hoping for something that doesn't take up too much space. I live alone so it will mostly just be 1 person using it. I am 5'9" so I don't need anything extra long.

Would be open to 110v or 220v - I have a 110v in the back but it is not dedicated so I would likely need a new line ran either way.

I've always wanted a soaker tub but my current bathroom size doesn't permit it - and I have come to the conclusion that a little hot tub would probably be cheaper than  a bathroom remodel.

Looking online the Hotspring Hotspot TX and the Caldera Aventine look like possible contenders. But I am open to other suggestions and opinions. Completely new to the hot tub scene.

EDIT: Also, if anyone can give me a fair current ballpark price for Hotspot TX or the Caldera Aventine I would appreciate it. Just got a quote from a local dealer that seems much higher than my research on these suggested the range should be.

Not sure where you are, but I'm in AZ.  $7-8k most likely on those Aventines/TX's.  Everything jumped at least $1k in this past year.  If not more.

Some spas from the Garden Spas collection (Artesian) might fit the bill.  Or anything from Freeflow (Rotationally molded spas) would fit your budget.  Those might not have any bells and whistles, but they will work as a great, solid, reliable hot tub.

thank you for the insight, I was quoted about 8500 - both of them being the same price- in CO. So not totally out of line. Crazy how much things have jumped during covid.

They have jumped a lot during covid for sure. I sell Caldera and that price is in the ballpark though a bit higher then what we sell them for. d00nut gave you a couple of good options. Another would be Nordic Hot Tubs. The D’Amore or even the Bella might work for you

Doonut is spot on.  Definitely look at Artesian Garden Spas line.  They have good quality without any extra bells and whistles. You can get one closer to $7k. They are a great value line.  I've heard great things about Nordic but have less experience with them.

Like others have said it's pretty much impossible to get anything of good quality under 6k...I like the Nordic recommendations of the Bella and the Stella models as 2 good options, if you buy them 'loaded up' with the extra insulation, light package, cover, cover lifter, steps, delivery, water-care products, etc they'll trend over 6k but def. lower than 8k...Good Luck!

Thanks! I actually got a quote from the dealer here for the Bella today and it was... over 8k. Just a couple hundred less than the other two. This dealer seems to be the only dealer of those 3 brands locally. I also went to a bullfrog dealer today and looked at the R5L and the quote on that was 9500-which I think is a better deal for the money. So I think I'm going to back out, save a bit longer, and see where things are in 6 months or so.

Over 8k for a Bella is too much money/too much margin....the R5L for $1,500 more is MUCH better of a deal imo

Just an update. After research and looking at spas I ended up blowing my budget and going with the Bullfrog A5L. Decided if i'm going to buy something that will hopefully last a decade I better be happy with it.
