Caldera filter question

Troubleshooting a different problem but I was talking to a tech on the phone today about pump 2 (1 speed) and asked if it ever turned on during filters. He said yes, both pumps run while filtering. I told him that can't be the case because only pump 1 runs at low speed for both of my filter session, which I've confirmed many times. He insisted that can be the case. Is pump 2 supposed to be used at all? 2016 Vanto...

I'm trying to trouble shoot a GFCI nuisamce tripping issue and have disconnected pump 2 which is why the question came up

 When its in a filter mode, check with a volt meter and see if there is power where pump 2 hooks up.    Never heard of both pumps running during a cycle.  Did you ask him if it goes through the purge thing or not?

Botswana:
I didn't, because he was insistent that both ran each filter cycle, therefore its a moot point.

As far as I'm aware, only pump 1 runs during the filter cycle.
