newbie getting started
« on: October 19, 2017, 07:42:11 am »
hello all,
I'm new here.  I've already been helped by reading several posts over the last few months, so thank you guys for sharing.  Going to try to share some of my progress with photos here.  As it stands now my jacuzzi j-480 is scheduled to arrive on 11-2-2017.  Maybe I'll work on the rust on my roof following this hot tub project.  You know, first things first.  ;)

Couldn't get the concrete truck close enough, so we're doing the concrete shuttle here.

How did you get the grooves in the slab and the rough edges on the steps? What were the concrete specs? Did you have the conduit in place prior to the pour? Any rebar? What are you doing to cure the concrete? Are tracks on a skid-steer the best way to go? How do you like yours?

Looks like pretty country where you are. Any trails to ride motorcycles and quads?

The guys pouring the concrete have patterns they beat into the concrete just before it dries.  In a few days they will do some type of acid stain on it also.  The main floor has a plank pattern, and the steps have a stone pattern.  My original specs called for a 12 foot by 30 foot pad.  Planning for a porch swing on the far end of it.  Yes, on the conduit.  Had it in place in advance.  You may not be able to see that at first, because they taped over it, just to make it easier for them to stamp their pattern onto the pad.  Yes, on the rebar too.  I'm pretty much clueless on the skid-steer, but my landscaper guy operates it, and can do about anything with it.  I'm just letting the concrete set for two weeks before the hot tub arrival.  I've heard everything from one day to one month, so researching this forum was helpful on that.  I decided on the middle ground of two weeks after reading topics here.  It is pretty country here, but no public property.  All trails are on private property so landowner permission is needed.
