Hose filter to reduce calcium hardness

(1/1)

bwspa:
I’m trying to find a filter to bring down the hardness from my city water.  The reviews on filters that I can find either don’t claim to work on calcium or those that do have mixed reviews.  Are there any that are worthwhile?

I have a home water softener but haven’t used it since we bought the house three years ago.  I don’t believe it’s piped outside so I’d have to run the hose from the laundry out the window, and likely split the fill from outside tap and softened water inside to get the right balance.

You have 2 options: Run your water through a softener (portable options that you can refill yourself to avoid running a garden hose through the house are available: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LIAVX98/ref=asc_df_B00LIAVX985195917/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=395033&creativeASIN=B00LIAVX98&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198061104887&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7620769413646263923&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9019558&hvtargid=pla-355500898470

Another option would be to use a "brine bag" that Hot Springs sells: https://www.amazon.com/HotSpring-Vanishing-Calcium-Remover-76029/dp/B004GFQRLG but at $45 a pop for a one time use they can get expensive considering your water depending on the starting calcium level may require up to 2-3 of those.

Good Luck!

I recommend 3M Aqua-Pure AP430SS water system, it's cheap but the quality is very good. Very easy to set up, I was amazed at the change in both the taste and feel of the water, as well as the effect on our faucets and appliances.
