I would go back and say I would give 9K then make sure to ask them what they think about the closest competitors equal value model.  Do your homework and know what that model is.  Every time they try to talk about their model appear kinda interested but more interested in what they know about the competitors equivalent model.  When they do get you back on track with their model ask them why their model cost $8500 in Florida, but 11K here.  When that throws them off ask them how much it costs to freight a hot tub from the east coast (not Florida).  When they falter just look like you are thinking and mumble "I bet $300".  Then snap back and appear very interested in their model again.

Planting the seed will sprout the tree of discount.

ok lionheart. when i'm telling him $8,500 any idea what they would be making in profit from me so i know this in the back of my head and can throw it at him when he starts to tell me i'm low balling him. Im thinking they get this tub for $7,000 and would be making a nice deal on me by making $1,500.00. i appreciate your feedback. thanks
