Your water turned caustic because ph is low so you must bring it up.
I recommend raising the ph, then drain it, repair leaks and then refill.
Monitor your ph and alkalinity faithfully and do not let the sanitizer level go above the high end of ideal.
( If you have a maintenance company it does not hurt to keep test strips and check water weekly yourself)

You need a product to raise your Total Alkalinity.

Sodium Bicarbonate (aka Arm and Hammer baking soda) raises TA a lot, and pH a little. Sodium Carbonate (aka Soda Ash) raises pH a lot, and TA a little.

Either of these may be packaged under the "name" of pH up, or TA up...depending on the manufacturer. You have to look at the actual ingredients of the product, rather than the name of the product.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals
