Pumps on Jacuzzi J-335 and J-345
« on: April 08, 2014, 01:44:16 am »
I just downloaded the 2014 manuals for the Jacuzzi J-300 models and noticed that there is no mention of a low speed on one of the pumps. My understanding was that one of the pumps operated only on high speed, whereas the second pump had a high and low speed. I don't see this in the manual.

I am asking because we are very interested in purchasing either the J-335 or J-345 and we are currently wired for 50 amps. It was my understanding that the heater would continue to operate as long as the dual speed pump was on low speed. The manual says that if both pumps are on, the heater will not work on a 50 amp connection. It says nothing about the heater not working if both pumps are on high speed. It only says the heater won't work if both pumps are on.

Is this a change in 2014 or is the manual not correct? Is there actually a high speed pump and a dual speed pump? And is it true that with a 50 amp connection the heater won't work if both pumps are engaged, or is it still the case that there is still a dual speed pump and the heater won't work if the dual speed pump is on high at the same time the other pump is on?

Thanks so much for any information you can provide.

Pump 1 is 2spd pump 2 is single.    In a 50 amp setting the heater will shut off with everything running on high, or you can run pump 1 on low and pump 2 on high and the heater will remain on.  Or turn pump 2 off and run pump 1 on high and the heater will stay on, in the 60 amp setting the heater will stay on with all running on high..

Thanks Jacuzzi Jim, for confirming that for me. Just so you know where my concern came from, I downloaded the Jacuzzi manuals from this site: http://www.jacuzzihottubs.ca/en/request-brochure/download-manuals/

If you look at page 12 of the 2013 manual it says “...In 50A configuration, the heater will not operate while both jets pumps are running in high speed...”. This was my understanding and what you have confirmed.

However, on page 12 of the 2014 manual it says “...In 50A configuration, the heater will not operate while both jets pumps are running...”. It doesn’t say anything about both jets pumps on high speed.

Then on page 23 of the 2013 manual it says “...Jets 1 Button: Turns Jets pump #1 on and off. Press once for low speed; press a second time for high speed; press a third time to turn pump off. ...”

But on page 23 of the 2014 manual it says “...Jets 1 Button: Turns jets pump #1 on and off. Press once to turn pump #1 on; press a second time to turn pump #1 off. ...” It does not say anything about either a low or a high speed. It just refers to on and off. The way I read it was that this was now a single speed pump.

Anyway, thanks again Jacuzzi Jim for the clarification. I have no idea why they would have deliberately changed the manual??? It seems pretty misleading to me.

Looks like they have made pump 1 a single spd pump.

 From Jacuzzi website

We brought some in and sad to say I have not dug into them at all other than looking at them.   Needless to say our rep is pretty lame, but then she was not to excited that we brought on Bullfrog recently.     So what I see is they made pump one a single spd..   That's too bad!

Have we finally concluded that there is only one speed on pump 1 ?  Reason I ask, is that I too saw in the brochure that it showed 1 speed for both pumps, so I asked the sales rep about this and was told that there are definitely 2 speeds.  In fact, the control panel seems to show a 2 speed button for pump 1. Are we able to confirm that the 2014 models definitely no longer have a 2 speed pump ?  Thanks for the feedback.

If anybody on this site would know its jim. So I would take his word that they are both single speed for 2014

It's been 6 weeks in my jacuzzi, and I still haven't stopped on low speed for pump one yet.  My wife says, put the hammer down!
