Selling A Used Jacuzzi J-470 Not Sure What to Ask

(1/2) > >>

pmmorris84:
Hi everyone,

Going through a separation and we are forced to sell our hot tub, it is a 2008 or 2009 Jacuzzi J-470. I am unable to determine the actual year as we bought it from the original owners of the house. The tub is in what I would say is Very Good condition, no major defects or issues, we bought a brand new cover this year, and replaced the heater this year. I have tried to do some searching to determine what is a fair asking price for both us and the buyer. If anyone can provide any insight, ballpark range that would really be helpful. Based on the brand new prices, I was thinking that maybe $8k would be a fair price?

Thank you in advance!

Hottubguy:
You can buy lots of new tubs with warranties for 8k. I think you will have a hard time getting 5k for it with no warranty

TwinCitiesHotSpring:
you can list it at 8k...you never know, like they say "there's a sucker born every minute"  but to get 8k out of tub with no warranty and through a private sale where purchaser has no recourse if problems arise will be tough in my opinion.  If he doesn't respond to this thread send a private message to Jacuzzi Jim, he most likely deals with used Jacuzzi so he would prob. have some good input, my guess would be 5-6k

I appreciate the responses and the honesty, because I am flying blind here, I saw someone on craigslist post a 08 J-365 for 6k. When you guys are referring to warranties are you referencing the factory warranty? Because I am in the process of checking that now through Jacuzzi, if it is still under factory warranty does that help the asking price at all? Or are we referring to an aftermarket warranty (if such a thing exists)

Thanks!

Water Boy:
I agree with Twin City. There just aren't many people looking to spend 8k on a used spa no matter how good of shape it is in. From my experience, it is even difficult to get 3-4k for a used spa, let alone 8k. I would also check with Jacuzzi Jim, but I would maybe look to start around 4k, and plan to come down from there.
