Lounge spas can be great or not so great for you, its a crapshoot. There is only one way to find out which is a wet test because how it fits/feels to someone else has little bearing on how it will work for you.
If you are thinking about a lounge spa then I say wet test it to see how it works for you. If you chose not to wet test then I'd advise you to siply choose a spa without a lounge to be safe.

I love the lounge seat in the J-480, but in order to make four corner seats, the lounge is sort of small for me and I'm right at 6" tall. What I mean is, my legs are not able to lay down relaxed on the lounge seat, I must sit so my knees are higher than my body with my feet point back down for the foot jets. The back jets are amazing, but for me, the most important thing about the J-400 series is all four seats plus the back waterfall main jets are different and focus on different zones/muscles (or feel completely different).
I only looked at Sundance and Jacuzzi models with the lounge seat. I liked the Sundance Cameo and Maxxus lounge seats, but the back jets where not as specific as the J-480, and to me the force of the water out of the J-480 was significantly more pressure and that's what I wanted for my bad back and shoulders.
What I find that I do most in the hot tub, is sitting at each corner with the controls set to maximum pressure for that side of the hot tub for 10 - 15 min each. One of the great features of the Jacuzzi J-1000 series, is that you can override the temp setting and set the hot tub at 106 degrees vs 104. I've found that leaving the cover on and jets prior to using it allows for it to get to 107.
Overall, if you like the feel of the J-480 it's a very high quality hot tub and possible among the best out there. If you want a larger hot tub with a lounge, I'd go with the Sundance Maxxus, but it lacks the J-1000 control system and some of the Jacuzzi specific jet designs. If you don't desire a lounge, the J-470 or J-495 would offer the best out there in a hot tub.
And with the large cover, a covermate III is very nice. I've got one on my J-480 and it works great. Interesting point, one of the dealers I was trying to buy from tried telling me that I'd like the covermate I over the covermate III. I think it's because it would have saved him an extra $100.00 in expenses...
After you've purchased the hot tub, this is a great online business to purchase chemicals. They have sales every 90 - 120 days with another 30 - 50% off.

The lounge in the J-480 was actually designed for a women ;) Also a covermate1 will not work with a 400 series spa with the raised back, that's why Leisure concepts came out with the CM4 for the J-400 series.. Back to the original poster, I would seriously consider the J-470 or the J-365, much depends on how much you want the lounge and or the size of the J-495

:D I'll give you that one...
