Understanding Jacuzzi 400 series filtration

I understand How the primary filter works. How does the secondary filter work under the polishing bag? I do not understand how flow goes through this secondary filter.

My primary circulation pump is set to run 6 hours a day for the primary filter.

 When I set the timer for the secondary filter, the same circulation pump comes on? What pushes flow thru the Secondary filter?

Jacuzzi Jim:
  It use to be pump 2 would draw through that filter.   Now it is pump one.



 You up and running yet?

Very little flow goes thru the secondary filter; It is almost useless unless I do not understand which is quite possible

Jacuzzi Jim:
  It's more for just redundant filtration.
