OT - violence in this political race?
(1/1)
Chas:
I was not soaking in my tub when this happened, but I glanced out on my lawn as I was shutting off lights and going to bed this evening, and I saw my lawn signs had been trashed. I looked up and down my street and the opposing signs are not touched. I will drive around tomorrow to see if other property was violated in this was as well, and I fully plan on seeing more of the same.
I'm not going to mention what party or subject the signs represented, but I will have them replaced tomorrow and I guess I'll take them in at night.
Is it me, or is this election bringing out the childish, divisive side of just about all of us? I don't know if it is because people are more passionate about the side they have chosen, or if the media is whipping us to a frenzy by hammering on the attack rhetoric in the campaign, but something is very different about this whole election process.
Again I ask - is it me?

No its not you. In our most affluent suburb, both parties signs are dissapearing. In a less affluent neighborhood here a persons signs were laid up against the house and set fire to.
Bonibelle:
I got a call from a friend of mine..the committee woman for our district who asked about putting signs on my lawn. I said NO..I know who I am voting for and I doubt that signs on my lawn would influence anyone. It only serves as a target for someone who wants to start something. This is nuts!!! And the day after the election we are all supposed to forget our differences (most that never existed before this election) and be friends and work together...The media controls this country and everything we do. It is the biggest influence on our kids..more than parents..and it is ruining our country >:(
Chas:
One of my neighbors built a sign out of thick plywood and two-by-fours. He dug the posts into his lawn, and just painted his candidate's name in large letters. Very basic, ugly and I didn't understand why he did it - until now.
I don't know how much of this gets into the news or into the general thinking of voters, but if we start using this low-level terror approach to the process of electing people and passing amendments or measures, we are not doing what I would call 'advancing' as a civilization.

One of my neighbors put a 10ft x6ft banner on his garage and put spotlights in his yard pointed at it. I can honesty say that regardless of which candidate it was, if I could see it from my hot tub, it wouldn't be there now. Don't mess with my relaxing soak or whats left of my dark sky.
