For a spa, chlorine comes as a powder. Bromine is delivered as a tablet, pillow or nugget, in a floating dispenser.
For bromine, you load your floater, add an activating product and adjust weekly.
With chlorine you add each time you use the spa.
There are advocates for each product. Neither is better. Different strokes for different folks.
Welcome to Spatopia! :D

Is it dangerous to put bromine in a chlorine spa?

Nope. It is dangerous to mix bromine tabs and chlorine tabs in a floater.
If you add bromine to a tub on chlorine, it will become a brominated tub.
Are we confused yet? :D

dont mix. query these topics and you will find lots of reading.
Best line was already stated, different strokes for different folks.

I learned from folks on this website to use diclor after each use.
It has worked like a charm! However, when I left town for 2 weeks, I through in the spa frog filled with bromine and minerals. When I got back, all my readings of the test strip were fine.
So, now I have bromine and chlorine in my spa. I don't think it's a problem, but maybe someone else should answer that. All I know is, my test strip readings are all golden.

You most likely have a bromine spa now bama. Any chlorine you add just reactivates the bromine.
Gomb, personally, I use a combination of a passive copper ion system with occasional chlorine. Typically I use the sauna first, then rinse off with a bucket of hot tub water. I kinda figure there isn't much "dirt: getting into the water.

Very interesting doc. Can you give us more information on the passive copper ion system? I'm not familiar with that system.

Not without opening my self up to 6 figure fines from the EPA (yes, they've visited me and warned me). As it's not EPA approved, it's not something I can recommend ;)
I can tell you though, that my hot tub is heated by a coil of copper pipe running around the inside the tub. Hot water from my water heater is thermostatically pumped through the pipe for heat.

Yea...right, and then it goes through a condensor and the results drip out this little tube....sure thing doc.

????????? Huh? Is there something you're questioning?
But, now you got me thinking.............. Wonder if there's a way to use a hot tub as a still? ;D

On that note has anyone tried a copper ion system? Like Clearwater Blue?
If so can you provide any feedback, both positive and/or negative?
Looking for first hand experience. thanks
