Abandond tub in NY, chance of fixing? (pics)
« on: July 23, 2017, 11:22:28 am »
So a friend of mine gave me his 2005 Jacuzzi J345 /W that has been sitting uncovered with a foot of leaves and water in it on Long Island, NY (freezing winters).  This tub is half the age of my current VitaSpa (LC500?) which has cedar siding and two jet pumps that don't work (I never use them anyway, too loud, I just soak).

Cleaned tub up (to an extent), wired to my welder outlet for testing.  Believe it or not, both pumps work high and low speed, but there is a clicking and burning smell from the wiring/relay box and it seems to reset (345 on control panel).  Also... circ pump wires were disconnected, not sure why and when I hooked them up nothing happened.

Between frozen winters and parts of the control box looking corroded should I throw it out?  My old VitaSpa works, but a smaller tub would be nice.

Here are links, looks like photobucket pics don't show up anymore without upgraded account.

UPDATE:
I did some probing around.
-Amazingly both jet pumps work on both high and low.
-LED light in water works, waterfall one flickers.
-Circ pump does not function (jumped, no rotation).
-Heater pulls from one leg (11 Amps) and steel tube gets warm, oddly heater looks to be in a plastic box mounted behind the wiring box.  I only jumped it for a few seconds.
-Heater relay clicks and panel seems to reset every 20 seconds or so.

The tub seems to hold water.

Part of me wants to get a new circ pump, wire it up and see what happens.
