How long does it really take to get to get a hot tub?

We understand – the idea of getting a hot tub is intoxicating and exciting. We get the Christmas eve feeling and cannot wait to climb in that beautiful new tub. Relax and take a deep breath friends because this is not going to happen quickly. It would be fantastic to pay for a tub on Saturday morning and be soaking by Sunday night but that is just not going to happen – not by a long shot. Let us help you manage your expectations.

How long does it take to have a tub delivered? (Today to a month or two)

In stock: if the tub you purchase is in stock you are in serious luck. The friendly folks at your dealer should be able to deliver it in 0-2 days. Hot tubs are huge and as such your dealer most likely have a very small fraction of the tubs he has access to in his shop. If you are flexible you stand a better chance of finding something that you like in stock.

Your dealer orders the tub from the manufacturer: This could take a week. It could also take a month. The variables involved here are many. Does the manufacturer have the tub in it’s warehouse? Is the tub scheduled to be manufactured next week or next month? These are all things your dealer can tell you with a quick call to their dealer rep.

How long does it take to prepare the location where the tub will sit? (0 days to 1 month)
Did you think about this? Picking a great location for your hot tub is worth taking some extra time to make happen. If you need to put it on a deck that has yet to be created you are looking at 2 weeks to a month to have a contractor design, prepare and build it. If you will be placing it just outside the back porch is there an adequate concrete pad to place it on? If not, you are looking at a week or two to make that happen. Whatever you do - do not skimp on this it will just cause you headaches if you do.

How long does it take to get electric run to the location of the hot tub? (2 days to 2 weeks)
Ouch, you forgot that most hot tubs require 220 electric but you remember enough about electricity that 220 is man-killer strength and should be done by a professional. This all depends on how quickly you can get on an electricians appointment book. Electricians will want to know the exact location of the hot tub prior to putting in the electric. They actually prefer to do it all at once – run the line and connect it to the tub on the same visit. You will likely incur additional expense if you have him come out twice. You are thinking, “I will just book the electrician on the date my dealer says the tub will arrive”. Unless you like the idea of possibly angering your electrician do not do this. Delivery dates can and do change all the time. Wait until the tub is in your back yard before scheduling an appointment.

Delivery of new hot tub: 0-60 days
Location preparation: 0-30 days
Electric: 2-14 days

With some proper planning and luck you can make this happen in as few as 2-3 business days if everything is perfect. Most likely you will be soaking in a couple weeks from purchase.

Sorry to burst your bubble but your wait will be worth it – promise.
